Listening and Speaking.

November 24, 2010

During Year 1, students listen and respond to a range of spoken texts for informal and formal purposes, and to texts read aloud. They use developing listening skills to retell events with some details, and remember and follow multi-step instructions. They ask questions and make comments. They speak clearly, adjusting the volume of speech to their audience and purpose. They participate in pair, group and class discussions. They make presentations on familiar and learned topics and use appropriate vocabulary to discuss ideas in texts, and to share responses.

This is one of my dot paintings.

We did experiments to discover things that are waterproof. We put crepe paper, pop sticks, writing paper, metal and plastic into water. We found that metal and plastic are waterproof and the others are not. We decided that metal and plastic would be the best materials for building things outside.
